On May 18, 1995 , Yiwu held the first "Famous, Excellent and New Small Commodities Fai r of CSCC ", which attracted 338 famous enterprises from US, South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan and some big cities from the mainland of China . During the 5 days of exhibition period, the trade volume of the fair reached 100 million yuan . This pioneering work helped to improve the commodity level of Yiwu market as well as its popularity. As a business card of the city, Yiwu Fair spares no efforts to propel Yiwu enterprises to establish their own brands . The one held in 2006 became in the real sense the largest national fair of daily consumables . The fair possessed 4 ,000

international standard booths, covering an area of 90 thousand square meters . Over 2 ,000 enterprises took part in the exhibition, among which 94 were enterprises with famous brands above the level of prefecture city . The exhibition covered products in 12 industries, including education and office supplies, sports and recreational supplies, toys, knitted fabrics, shoes and headwear, cosmetics and cleaning compounds, hardware, electric appliance, leather suitcases and bags, decoration fittings, handicrafts and gifts, household supplies, and Internet Information . It became a truly international stage for the grand gathering and exhibition of world brands .

The development and prosperity of Yiwu market fully demonstrate the significance of credit system functioning as the foundation of the market economy . As early as in the 2000, CPC Yiwu Municipal Committee and Yiwu government listed the construction of "Credit Yiwu" as one of its strategic targets, and the construction of "Credit Market" as an extraordinarily important priority in the long period .

Yiwu Industrial & Commercial Bureau built up the first Trademark Search & Comparison Database in the country, in the hope to

protect the intellectual property rights and give directions to the promotion of brand creation .

From 2005,Yiwu Industrial & Commercial ureau began to develop independently the oftware integrated with trademark comparison, verification, announcement, searching and other brand inspection functions . By the end of 2006,the number of the registered trademarks in the Brand Database had exceeded 17,000, including 302 Well-known Trademarks and Famous Trademarks at the provincial level . Besides ,the number of graphic trademarks reached 986 in the Trademark Database . Moreover, in 2006,Yiwu Industrial & Commercial Bureau carried out the Trademark Display System, to further publicize the brand commodities . According to this policy, all the booths holding Well-known Trademarks, provincial or municipal Famous Trademarks, or other foreign and domestic renowned brands should clearly display their Registered Trademark Certificates and other relevant information . Undoubtedly, this move would bring much convenience to the purchasers .
