It is learned from the Hangzhou Customs that with the overall growth of foreign trade in Zhejiang Province, the import volume maintains a sound momentum in April after over 10% of growth rate in the first quarter of this year . Judging from its 4 . 31 billion USD of import volume, this April has created a historical high. According to the statistics from the Customs, the import and export trade volume totaled 52. 02 billion USD in the first four months, a rise of 30 . 9% over the same period of last year, 7.3% higher than the national average growth rate. In this overall foreign trade volume,the export takes 3 7 . 0 4 billion USD ,up by 29.8%, 2.3% higher than the national average growth rate; the import takes 14 . 98 billion USD, up by 3 3 . 8% ,14 . 7% higher than the national average growth rate.
The growth rate of imported resource products is higher than the national average level. A detailed analysis of the import figures reveals that about 60% of the imported goods in Zhejiang Province from this January to Aprilare through common trade
procedures . Foreign-funded enterprises and private enterprises are still the main forces in the import and export trade of Zhejiang Province . As an essential role in the foreign trade, private enterprises maintain a strong development momentum,whose foreign trade volume reached 17.09 billion USD in the first four months, a rise of 51. 8%, 4 . 4% higher than the same period of last year in the growth rate. It accounts for 32.9% of the total import and export volume in the province .
As for the structure of imported products, besides the two main categories ( i.e. electrome chanical products and hi-tech products), other imported goods mainly include preliminary plastics, terephth alicacid, intergrated circuit,copper sheet and
copper scrap ,textile machinery and parts,ethylene glycol, phenylethylene, and log . The growth rate in the import of above goods is much higher than that of the simi lar products in the same period in the country . This indicates that the need for energy,raw materials,advanced technology and critical equipments is more urgent than that of the whole country, and that
the problems like shortages of natural resources and production factors are becoming more and more serious to some degree, experts from the Customs observe .
Over half of the Zhej iang-made export products are distributed to EU, US and Japan . The traditional advantageous products,such as texti les and clothes,maintain a steady growth . In the first four months, the exported textiles and clothes totaled 9 . 66 billion USD . Noticeably,the export of steel materials in Zhejiang Province shows a sound momentum a s we l l ,which reached 1.026 million tons from the January to April, totaling 760 million USD,an increase of 2.3 and 2.4 times respectively. It is observed from the export information of the first four months that as a striking place in the trade conflicts between China and western countries, Zhejiang Province is still faced with the problem of too centralized export markets . At present, EU,US and Japan are still the three largest export markets of Zhejiang enterprises.
