In many supermarkets,special areas have been set up for the promotion of this typical Chinese food . However, with the price rise of glutinous rice,pork and cooking oil,the general level of Zongzi's price this year is a bit higher than that of previous years . According to the working staff in a supermarket,as a main product in promotion,currently the price of Zongzi is on the average several jiao (a monetary unit under yuan in RMB) higher than that of previous years . Besides,one large-sized Zongzi,which used to weigh 7 liang( a unit of weight in China,which equals 50 grams) previously,may only weigh 6 liang at present . Both probably result from the upsurge in the prices of pork and eggs used as Zongzi's fillers, which have reached a new high in the same periods of past ten years .
At present,most of the Zongzi in the market are vacuum-packed . Undoubtedly,vacuum packing also increases the cost .
