According to Yiwu Foreign Affairs Service Center, 520 resident representative offices of foreign enterprises were registered in Yiwu from January to October this year . Till now , the total number of resident representative offices of foreign enterprises in Yiwu has reached 2,000 and ranks first among county-level cities in China .
These 2,000 foreign enterprises are from 81 countries and regions,and most of them are from the Middle East . Among these enterprises,367 are from Pakistan. Other countries and regions setting up offices in Yiwu areas follows: Hongkong ,Iraq ,the United ArabEmirates ,South Korea, Afghanistan,Egypt,India and Jordan . It is learned that this September and October witnessed 65 and 76 new offices of foreign enterprises registered in Yiwu .
The large number of representative offices of foreign enterprises promotes the export of daily-used commodities in Yiwu. From January to October,the total export amount reached 1.598 billion US dollars, a rise of 15.38% compared to the same period of
last year . In recent months,new markets such as Brazil,Russia and India have become the new momentum of export in spite of
the economic depression of A merican and European countries. Traders of these countries have been setting up representative offices recently and increasing import from Yiwu market. Although related experts estimated that there would be a large decrease in the world economic growth,economy in these countries increased two times, which has become the main force contributing to the foreign trade development of Yiwu in 2008 .
The recession o f world economy couldn't stop foreign enterprises from purchasing in Yiwu . Most foreign traders believe
that as most commodities sold in Yiwu are necessities for daily life and have an advantage in price,under the situation of
world economic depression, products from Yiwu will attract more customers . So they won't give up Yiwu market .
