10 Questions on Yiwu's Future Development

On Feb 25 , a mobilization meeting on further prosperity of Yiwu through innovation and ideological emancipation was held in Yiwu Meihu Stadium.

At the meeting , Wu Weirong , Secretary of the municipal committee of CPC , put forward 10 awakening questions on Yiwu ‘ s future development .

Question 1 : How to plan Yiwu ‘ s future? Wu says that Yiwu is now in a key developing stage , and it is very important to properly orientate Yiwu ‘ s future development.

Question 2 : Will Yiwu ‘s market remain competitive ? Now the assimilation competition within this market is becoming more and more severe , making Yiwu ‘ s share of the whole market increasingly separated and the development space more and more contracted. We should encourage market traders to turn to corporatization and go to the outside world . At the same time , we should foster new industries , perfect market functions and improve the core competitive ability .

Question 3 : How far is Yiwu from real internationalization ? We have made great progress on the road to internationalization ,but if measured by criteria of real internationalization , we have a long way to go in many aspects such as the foreign related service environment and the investment attractions . We should arm ourselves with new ideas and methods and make sure what strategic focus to have , what measures to take and where to head for . We should attract large projects which can help upgrade the industries , diversify the channels of capital invitation so as to introduce foreign investment to more areas , and fully open the city to the outside world .

Question 4 : How to optimize the structure of Yiwu ‘ s manufacturing industry ? We should , based on the present foundation , explore a practical approach to the structural transformation of Yiwu ‘ s manufacturing industry that goes with the trends of new industrialization .

Question 5 : How wide is the margin for service industry to develop ? Yiwu consumption service industry enjoys a vast developing space and has its own comparative advantage . Given these good conditions ,why don ‘t we make our business larger and stronger ? We should exertour advantages , improve our level and attract more consumers . In the mean time , we should advance Yiwu fair , hold more professional exhibitions and make Yiwu a famous international exhibition city .

Question 6 : How to seek new breakthrough in Yiwu ‘ s new countryside construction ? The chief task of Yiwu ‘ s new countryside construction is to further develop the economy in Yiwu ‘ s rural areas and increase the income of the peasants .

Question 7 : How to create a more effective administrative system for favorable business environment ? In general , Yiwu needs further reform . Many aspects of the present administrative system are not in accordance with the developing situation . Economic and social development will be seriously affected if such systems are not reformed .

Question 8: How to ensure that citizens share Yiwu ‘ s new achievements.Yiwu has the good conditions to boom social undertakings of higher level which will satisfy the public . Wu Weirong asked ,” Why not improve the medical care service so that not only people in can enjoy medical care of high level , but people in the neighboring places will also be attracted to Yiwu for better medical care provided here ? Why not turn the 3-year-schooling Yiwu Industrial & Commercial College into a 4-year-education university through a few years ‘ effort ? Why not construct some cultural project of high taste so that people out of Yiwu will feel that Yiwu is really a city of rich culture ?

Question 9:How to attract more talents ? Human resources are the primary element for development . Lack of talents will become the biggest obstacle of the future development. For Yiwu , the problem is not that we cann ‘ t introduce talents but that how to offer a platform for the introduced talents to exert their genius and how to create an environment which is good for introducing , fostering and making use of talents so that more talents will be attracted to Yiwu . We must explore a new way to construct a learning-type city by making good use of present educational resource such as distance education net and public library , mobilizing learning enthusiasm of governors , enterprisers and business people and strengthening learning with the belief that anybody can become a talent .

Question 10 : How to develop regional cooperation of win-win mode ? Presently, regional cooperation is a trend for economic development , like Hangzhou-centered economic circle . In recent years , Yiwu has been playing an important role in building Central Zhejiang Agglomeration through regional cooperation and the radiation of Yiwu market .

Lacking in resources , Yiwu must make good use of resources of neighbor cities and try to realize mutual benefit in the regional cooperation
