The road-improvement project in the neighboring area of Xiuhu Square and Xiuhu Park，which receives much concern from the citizens，has kicked off its construction work after times of verification，exten-sive collection of citizens’opinions and the recent completion of bidding work.
According to sources，in the traffic，this rectification mainly includes the change of Nanmen Street(the section from Chengzhong Road to Ximen Street)into a one-way road，the traffic route adjustment in Block C，the redesign and increase of parking space，and the unification and increase of road guide system and traffic signs.In the civic affairs，the rectification mainly covers the supplementation of sewers，the reconstruction of sewers and sewage trap facilities in the block，the replacement of broken curbstones and small square stones，and the widening of some sections of the road.In the process of construction，no traffic or parking is allowed on all the road sections in the four blocks，so citizens should be ready to make a detour. Some details of this construction include：There is a 60-meter long section from the backside of Kingdom Hotel to Ludao;its west side that leads to Danxi Road，Ximen Street and Ying’en Gate has been closed;its east side that leads to Chengzhong Road and Nanmen Street has been closed; the 120-meter road from Longchu Hotel to Ludao needs to be broadened by 60 centimeters，so it is forbidden to park cars on the roadside.
As for the No.3 road in the commercial center block of Xiuhu Square(the road section from Kingdom Hotel to Broadband Building)，the ped-estrian path on the side of the way from Chengzhong Road to the nearby Kingdom Hotel does not allow parking 24 hours a day during the construc-tion，which used to allow parking though;and one side of the No.1 road in the commercial center block(the road section from Dushi Apartment Building to Ludao)，which used to al-low parking，has forbidden parking during the construction as well.
The whole rectification project is expected to end before Yiwu Fair. Hopefully，the heavy traffic around Xiuhu Square and the extreme insufficiency of parking space can be improved to some degree at that time and the discharge of sewage and rainwater in the block can also be in better order. A staff member in the Division of Civic Project Administration warned that some protection measures should be taken during the construction that will inevitably influence the citizens and the business around Xiuhu Square. He also asked for understanding and cooperation.
