Several days ago,an eighty-year-old enthusiastic citizen of Yiwu,Ye Hongjiang sent SOS for this old tree.In recent days,Yiwu Bureau of Parks and Woods often receives emergent calls ceaselessly:Leaves of 4 hundred-year-old camphortrees of Beiyuan Street become yellow.Some top branches are dead.Many leaves of a three hundred-year -old camphortree at Choucheng Street drop out.
According to the survey and statistics of Yiwu Forestry Department,there are 1321 ancient and rare trees in Yiwu.137 ancient and rare trees,who are about 300 to 499 years old,belong to national Classâ…ˇtrees.There are 73 trees who are over 500 years old and they are national first grade trees.
Journalist found in survey that among 1016 scattered ancient and rare trees,there are 215 trees protected with containment,support and plugging tree hole.There are 801 ancient and rare trees which are not protected because of all kinds of reasons.
