A flood of people gathered in the place where the first appraisal event of “Yiwu Top Ten Items in Private Collection” was held on April 28,the day when Yiwu Cultural Products Trade Fair kicked off . The multitudinous collectors took their favorite collected items there and asked experts for appraisal,attracting the eyes of many curious visitors .
Everything was in good order . The experts sat in a row,while the collectors lined up with their number clips . The collectors’items were various,including a silver bracelet,a jadeite pendant,a white marble brush-holder,and a Tang tri-colored gazed porcelain horse with a saddle . The collectors unwrapped their parcels with caution to show their items,and then the experts examined carefully and explained patiently . The visitors also craned their necks to see and listen curiously . Through the init ial appraisal,some real valuable relics were found, including jades of the Song Dynasty and a Buddha of Late Qing Dynasty,while modern imitations with only ornamental value were also rooted out . Those identified as genuine items were recorded by recording secretaries and eligible for the second appraisal . A 77-year-old Yiwu collector,who has collected pottery for over 30 years,responded calmly when he was interviewed after his item was identified to be an imitation . Later on,he put his item into a canvas bag and said that he had a lot of
porcelain at home,and that collecting pottery was his hobby,which brought him many friends with the same interest . He would keep on collecting pottery, just to make his life meaningful,he added .
