Yiwu make bracelets with symlobs of Beijing Olympic Games, 50,000 in total,appeared in Greece, the place where Olympic torch lights.
The Olympic Flame Lighting Ceremony opened on March 24, and was followed by a 6 day torch relay across Greece. At 3:00 pm, March 30, the torch will arrive at the Panathinaiko Stadium, the site of the first modern Olympic Games held in 1896, and Hellenic Olympic Committee will hand over the torch to the Beijing Organizing Committee for Games of XXIX olympiad (BOCOG). To warmly celebrate the Olympics to be held in Beijing, the General Chamber of Commerce for overseas Chinese in Greece ordered from Yiwu 50,000 bracelets with symbols of Beijing Olympic Games, which are distrubuted as gifts to Greeks and overseas Chinese at the Olympic Flame Lighting Ceremony. It is hoped that the act could serve as a bridge connecting two ancient countriess China and Greece and the two countrie, and the two cities. Commodities made in Yiwu have become more and more poplar with Greeks as Yiwu gains its world status and economic prosperity, meanwhile the products made in Yiwu are also cheap with high quality.
Wang Lihong, a Chinese star singer whose hometown is Yiwu, was among the first-day torch bearers of the torch relay. Representing all the Chinese, Wang Lihong will attend the hand-over ceremony of the Olympic torch together with Liu Hongliang, academician from Chinese Academy of Engineering on that very day. A famous musician, Wang Lihong always claims that he is "a descendant of dragon" a Chinese native. Hits grandfather was born in Fotang town, Yiwu, and settled in Taiwan in the early years.
